3 days ago I was on Cloud Nine.
Yup – way up there, close to the ozone layer, I was sailing like a bird kitted out with poppadom enhanced rubber-bands. Yes – I know..that made no sense.
Anyway, here’s why I was high.
My fourth novel – Codename: TN, a YA that will be flooded with dark humour and sarcasm galore had been plotted. And when I say plotted, I mean plotted. I had the characters, the antagonists, the setting, the scenes, the chapters, the hooks per chapter, the commas per chapter, the slam-dunktifying word addle doodle all worked out. Heck – I even had the final word of the novel mapped out. No joke – I actually had the final word worked out.
I was ready to start this novel on Monday 4th June 2012.
YES!!!!!!
But… then something happened.
And I don’t just mean happened… I mean utterly tutterly gobstopputterly happened.
I saw the trailer to the new Dreamworks’ Movie: Rise of the Guardians.
My jaw dropped so low it almost kneecapped me. Rise of the Guardians is about important figures that protect the world. They include Santa, the Tooth Fairy, Jack Frost, The Easter Bunny and many more. They have to stop the villain; the Bogeyman who wants to spread fear.
Now then… TN… is similar in that it had all of those guardians doing the same job, and guess what….the villain, was the Bogeyman!!!! ARRRRGGGHHH!!!!
After a 30 minute strop, I banished the plot for TN to the bin … but I will save it. I’ll find a new setting and twist. I won’t give up, but the start date will be pushed back a week.
Damn… but then again, there’s some good knowing that I had an idea that’s already happening.
*weeps*
